Limits & privacy
Know what the view includes.
Satquay is useful when its boundaries are clear. Here is what it can observe, what it depends on, and what remains in your control.
One selected address
The app observes the selected Bitcoin mainnet address. It does not automatically discover related receiving or change addresses, infer ownership, or calculate a complete HD wallet balance. Connecting a wallet extension shares an address; it does not add the wallet's entire history.
The watchlist holds up to 12 addresses and provides local navigation between them. Saved addresses are not all polled in the background. Only the address currently selected in the app is refreshed.
The initial activity view contains up to 25 confirmed transactions and up to 50 pending transactions reported by the provider. Load older confirmed pages when needed. The pending list has a provider limit and is not a complete feed for unusually busy addresses.
The current release does not observe testnet, Lightning, wrapped bitcoin, exchange account balances or other chains.
Alerts need an active page
Checks run while the app is open and visible. A hidden tab, a sleeping device, lost connectivity or browser resource management can delay or stop observations. Browser notifications also depend on permission and operating-system settings.
Local alert rules cover observed incoming activity, outgoing activity, a first confirmation and a target for the high-priority fee recommendation. They can miss events between observations or while the app is inactive. Satquay does not operate an always-on watcher or deliver email, text-message or Telegram alerts.
An alert cannot block a payment, reverse a transfer, prevent theft or automatically move funds. It is information for you to review in your wallet.
Public data has limits
Availability and freshness
Satquay depends on public Bitcoin API responses. The service may rate-limit requests, be temporarily unavailable or lag behind the network. Check the last successful update time. An error is not evidence that a balance is zero.
Output-list limits and partial snapshots
The provider applies a separate limit to an address's unspent-output list. A request for a large list can fail even when balance and transaction requests succeed. Satquay keeps the available data, labels the output list unavailable and offers a retry. This does not mean the address has no outputs. JSON exports preserve the missing list as utxos: null with utxoStatus: "unavailable".
Mempool observations
A mempool is a node's current set of unconfirmed transactions. Nodes can disagree, and a transaction can be replaced, dropped or confirmed. Pending change is provisional.
Confirmation and fees
Confirmations are calculated from observed block heights and can change in a chain reorganization. Fee recommendations are estimates under current conditions. They do not guarantee a confirmation deadline or a particular transaction outcome.
Independent verification
This app does not run a full node or independently verify block validity. For a consequential decision, compare the data with your wallet or a source you trust.
Local preferences, public queries
Watchlist entries, address labels, settings and alert preferences are stored in this browser. Satquay does not require a cloud account to use these features.
Looking up an address sends the address to the data path used by the app. A service receiving that request can associate the query with connection metadata. The fact that an address is public does not make your interest in it anonymous.
| Information | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Public addresses | Sent for chain-data lookup. They may be linked to other information by a provider or someone who knows their owner. |
| Watchlist and labels | Stored in this browser profile. Anyone with access to the profile may be able to read them. |
| Alert preferences | Stored locally and evaluated during active observations. They are not a cloud monitoring subscription. |
| Downloaded files | Saved wherever your browser downloads files. JSON may contain identifying labels and address selections. |
Browser storage is not encrypted secret storage. Avoid putting secrets in labels. Clearing site data, using a temporary browser profile or changing devices can remove or separate your settings. Exports are your own copies; Satquay provides no cloud backup.
The wallet keeps its authority
Satquay's UniSat integration requests access to public account information and reads the selected network. Mainnet is required. The app does not request a seed phrase, private key, message signature or transaction signature.
Pasting an address works without any wallet extension. An address lookup and a shared account do not prove legal ownership or establish a user identity.
No custody or protection claim
Satquay does not hold funds, insure a balance, safeguard keys or recover lost bitcoin. Its role is to present observations. Funds remain governed by the keys and scripts controlling their outputs.
Exports are snapshots
CSV includes the transactions loaded in the current view. JSON includes local settings and the current loaded snapshot. Neither is automatically a complete transaction ledger, a tax report, a proof of ownership or an attestation of funds.
Keep the selected address, observation time and coverage in mind when sharing or analysing an export. Data can become outdated immediately after it is downloaded.
For provider field definitions, see the Mempool API documentation and Esplora API specification.
